A Queen, A Story, and a Little Louisiana Magic 💜
👑 Meet Genevieve
Every painting I create has a story.
Some stories begin with a sketch.
Others begin generations before I ever picked up a paintbrush.
Genevieve is one of those stories.
She isn’t simply a jeweled Queen Gator.
She carries generations of Southern women with her.
As a little girl, I loved listening to the women in my family share their stories. My Maw Maw would bring out her and MeMaw’s beautiful clip-on earrings and brooches from their glory days, telling me where they came from and letting me try them on. I’d stand there wearing them… and twirl.
My Nana, a true Southern Belle, had a jewelry dresser lined with costume jewelry. She would proudly open each drawer, let me choose pieces to wear, and once again…
…I’d twirl.
Years later, I inherited some of those treasured pieces.
I kept them safely for years, never quite knowing what they were waiting for.
Then Genevieve appeared.
I realized those jewels had once adorned remarkable Southern ladies.
Why not let them adorn another?
Intermixed with pieces from my own jewelry collection are treasures that once belonged to the women who helped shape my life.
Genevieve isn’t simply wearing jewelry.
She’s wearing family history.
She reminds me that stories don’t have to stay tucked away in a drawer.
Sometimes they become art.
Sometimes they become legacy.
And sometimes…
They get released back into the world in color.
Thank you for allowing me to share another piece of my heart with you.
With gratitude,
Christy Boutte 💜🎨

P.S. A few weeks ago I asked my Facebook followers whether Genevieve’s background should be lime green, yellow, or pink.
You couldn’t agree…
So naturally, I chose all three. 🤣🎨
